Keep On Listening
03:47
|

I’ve been dying to see you all week long
But at least we have tonight
Oh my goodness you look like a dream come true
Is this what everyone has been singing about?
She made me take the headphones off my ears
With a big smile she said: “Welcome to the world”
Your friends know that I could not beg for more
When I’m here with you tonight
Who needs the proverbial California sun
When I’m here with you right now
Darling where do you wanna go tonight?
This town ain’t big enough to save us from ourselves
We could be runaways til morning comes
It’s not about the place but the company I keep
How do I know that we’re onto something good?
When you laugh at my tasteless jokes, my dear
Your friends know that I could not beg for more
When I’m here with you tonight
Who needs the proverbial California sun
When I’m here with you right now
It seems like I found the song that I was looking for
It may end at some point
But meanwhile can we just enjoy the music?
Take a listen
And you know that I could not beg for more
When I’m here with you tonight
Who needs the proverbial California sun
When I’m here with you right now

When I opened the door
behind a pink parasol
I saw an adorable, mocking smile
I felt I was going to die
I just can’t explain to myself,
she has no reason to be cute with me.
On those nights she kept reading lines from her secret notes,
I won’t follow them down anyway.
/ Hey, young girl,
tell me what passes through your mind.
Oh innocent,
with your shy smile and anonymous style
what stories you try to hide? /
I don’t know nothing ‘bout her
or why she’s always looking for me
For insisting so much on a wreck like me,
she must be a guardian angel of sorts
/ Hey, young girl,
tell me what passes through your mind.
Oh innocent,
with your shy smile and anonymous style
what stories you try to hide? /
Should I trust this stranger
When the world’s always been a lie?
Is this just an excuse
To close myself to anything new?
I haven’t let anybody in
But my heartbeat shows vital signs.
When I opened the door,
behind a pink parasol,
I saw an adorable, mocking smile,
I knew that it could’ve changed my life.

Pretty Stranger

Pretty stranger how you do it?
With a smile you can light up the world
Pretty stranger what’s your name?
I can put it in a song I wrote
And you know, it’s because of you that hole in my chest
It’s alright, a speech of your eyes makes me wordless
And I wish I could say something but silence is fine
When I saw you for the first time
I thought the world was not that bad
A few seconds before I watch you go
A smiling sunset is blessing me now
Pretty stranger tell me how I could do it
Travel the world just to see you again
Pretty stranger tell me how much it takes
For fate to make us meet again
And you know, you got everything I need for now
And I got nothing to offer: a guitar and a song
And I wish I could say something but silence is fine
When I saw you for the first time
I thought the world was not that bad
A few seconds before I watch you go
A smiling sunset is blessing me now

Another bad day in this grey city’s life
Despite eveything you’re still by my side
I gave up on talking about love
‘cause no one was worth it and I was afraid
To give anything to the wrong ones
Now I’m sure that you’ll never leave
All my shortcomings you’ll always forgive
Without saying any word
You’re the force behind every breath
When my thoughts become melody
Wherever you lead me, I will follow you
And I know you saved a place for me
And if I am lost and I got nowhere to go
You speak to my soul like no one else
And I always find myself in you
You drive me away without a car
You can make me laugh without a joke
You bring me voice when I have none
The chords are the same but I’m doing okay
As long as you’re here nothing can hurt
Wherever you lead me, I will follow you
And I know you saved a place for me
And if I am lost and I got nowhere to go
You speak to my soul like no one else
And I always find myself in you

In This Silence

Everyone is looking for coherence:
people who really think and do what they say.
Everyone is looking for sincerity
but do you really want to know the truth?
We wear so many disguises,
for every time and place we live in.
World’s a stage, I got a part to act,
for every moment I’ve got to live.
/ In this silence
I can see the scars of what I’ve done,
signs that make me who I am.
In this silence
I can hear the sound of standing on my own,
I can hear who I really am. /
Everything is ready for this show:
I’m the actor, the director, the writer.
And it’s not my fault if audience’s gone:
the audition process was a fucking joke.
/ In this silence
I can see the scars of what I’ve done,
signs that make me who I am.
In this silence
I can hear the sound of standing on my own,
I can hear who I really am. /
Do you know who you are?
In the silence of the night,
with the deafening sound of your thoughts,
can you still hear yourself? (hear yourself?)
In the silence of the night,
when you look in the mirror,
do you like what you see? (is it really you?)
/ In this silence
I can see the scars of what I’ve done,
signs that make me who I am.
In this silence I can hear the sound of standing on my own,
I can hear who I really am. /
Do you know who you are?

Radio Raptus

Every time I write a song,
it feels like it may be the last,
‘cause there’s more than a couple of chords and cheesy lyrics:
there’s a job to find, a home to build,
a place to call my own.
But I don’t want to lose it all,
I want to keep in touch
with all those words and melodies that made the soundtrack of my silence.
I’ve been in dark places along the way and they saved me.
Your songs don’t betray you,
they never leave you alone,
they’re always there for you.
You know where to find them.
I always feel at home with my records on.
I need something to hold onto in these years of uncertainty,
nothing that can be swayed by this English weather.
Besides playing guitar and singing out loud
I don’t know what else could ever keep me alive in this life.
Here comes Radio Raptus:
“Your songs don’t betray you,
they never leave you alone,
they’re always there.
You know where to find them.”
I always feel at home with my records on.
With my best girl on my side I feel complete,
picking up where I left off.
I can take my flaws and make them work.
So lights out. I’m on my way.
Your songs don’t betray you,
they never leave you alone.
They’re always there.
You know where to find them.
I always feel at home with my records on.
